The island of Saint-Barthélemy (SBH) is part of France. All EEC Citizens need is their national identity card. In order to travel the neighboring islands, a valid passport will be needed. No vaccinations are required. American and Canadian citizens must have a valid passport and a return plane ticket. (Be sure to check with your airline as to which documents they require and the time that you will need to arrive at the airport prior to departure.) The airstrip in St. Barths is small, and pilots are required to have special training to land. For many, the landing, especially on a windy day, is an adventure in itself.
There are no direct flights to St. Barths. Most North Americans fly first into St. Maarten's Queen Juliana International Airport, from which the island is only 10 minutes by air. Flights leave at least once an hour between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM on Saint Barth Commuter and WinAir. Air Caraïbes (based in Guadeloupe), flies among the French West Indies and to the Dominican Republic. Saint Barth Commuter ibased out of Saint Barth, can also arrange a charter - see below.
Services such as St Barth Services offer VIP service with representatives in St Martin at Juliana International Airport to assist in your connecting flights from St Martin to St Barth to help eliminate the usual long wait to get through immigration. On arrival, SB Services will wisk you through to your next flight to St Barth and handle all of your baggage pickup. They will also help in tracking and delivering any potential lost luggage which sometimes unavoidably happens when we all travel.
Tradewind Aviation offers charters and regularly scheduled, daily nonstop Premium service from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Flights are timed conveniently to meet early flights from the United States.
St Barth Commuter also offers charters from San Juan, Puerto Rico as well as charters between St Martin and St Barths. They also have regularly scheduled flights between St Martin and St Barth.
You must confirm your return interisland flight, even during off-peak seasons, or you may very well lose your reservation. Do not be upset if your luggage has not made the trip with you. It frequently will arrive on a later flight, and your hotel will send a porter to receive it; villa-rental companies may also help you retrieve luggage from the airport, but you may have to beg. It's a good idea to pack a change of clothes, required medicines, and a bathing suit in your carry-on.

Beaches and Sights

Beaches. St. Barth is consistantly ranked in the top ten for great beaches. The beaches are straight out of a hollywood movie and boast soft, white sand and wonderfully warm turquoise-blue water. St. Barth's beaches are publicly accessable via a car and short hike. All the beaches are great, but Saline and Gouvenour are not to be missed.

Hotels & Villas on St. Barth
( 9 items )
St Barth is a jewel in the Caribbean, a largely unspoiled island with a distinctly French flavor. The island has only 8,000 inhabitants, 100% employment, and has practically no crime. Unlike most other islands, on St Barths most accommodations are found in privately owned villas and cottages. Many of the villas available for rent by the week are professionally managed, and a visitor can request a host of in-villa services through central concierge desks.
There are a handful of small hotels, with the largest one having only 60 rooms and most having less than 20 rooms. The local government, to their credit, have long recognized that excessive development could harm the character of the island, and so they severely restricted the height and size of all commercial developments, including hotels.
Villa rentals are more and more popular with our returning people. If you want to stay in a villa, it is very important that you contact us immediately. We can help you survey what is available in your size and price category and advise you as soon as possible. A St Barts villa rental allows you to have a home base from which to venture to the island's 22 beaches, partake in wind surfing, sailing or scuba diving, sample the beachfront bistros, highly regarded restaurants, and visit the casual but chic designer shopping boutiques in the two main villages.
Venue
The conference will be held in the Captainerie by the harbor in Gustavia, the capital city. Meetings start at 8:30am each day, Monday to Friday. This venue is just steps from dozens of harborside restaurants, bars and shops that line this picturesque harbor. The island is only 8 miles long, so any hotel or villa on the island is relatively convenient to Gustavia. If you have a preference for sunset or sunrise views, walk to beach or walk to town, hilltop vs water-level location, we can steer you towards options that meet those preferences.
