Welcome To St. Barth Dental Association

stbart2.gifBonjour from St. Barth...  By choosing our island, the Pearl of the Caribbean, for your vacation and for some of the best continuing education programs in dentistry, you will join the ranks of the Privileged in Dentistry.

Our programs include a full week of morning lectures by world renowned lecturers spanning all phases of dentistry. The pearls of wisdom that you will leave St. Barth with will stay with you for years to come, which only help enhance your ability to deliver the very best dental care to the valued patients in your dental practice.

Once attending a week long lecture series, you will find yourself waiting impatiently for your next opportunity to return for one of the best vacations and the best in dentistry. We have been most fortunate in attracting speakers such as Ronald Goldstein, David Garber, Gerard Chiche, Takiyosha Nishimura, Harold Heymann, Ramon Duran, Edward Walk, Louis Rose, Norman Feigenbaum, Louis Rossman, Arnold Weisgold, Karl Leinfelder, Bruce Small, Henry Salama, Lou Graham, Howard Glazer, Roger Wise, Marty Zase and Gary Reiser to St. Barths.

The purpose of our web site is to familiarize you with our island and our conference in 2010 - Monday, January 18th to Friday, January 22nd. We hope that after learning more about us, you will want to join us for a week of challenging education, fun, and relaxation.

January is a very special time of the year in St. Barth. Our annual Music Festival will be in full swing with its dance, jazz, and chamber orchestra phases. Our harbor will be filled with mega yachts and sail boats. There will be several art openings and the hotels and restaurants will be very busy. Merci de visiter et dites un ami!

Location
Saint Barth is located in the North of the Antilles. The 15 square mile island differs greatly from other islands due to its topography and climate.

Phoning
To call the US dial 00-1 followed by the area code and number.

From the US to Saint Barth dial 011-590+ 590+number. (That's right, 590,590)

To call France, dial the telephone number.

Your cell phones will work in St. Bart. On arriving, press "00" and you will be assigned a local telephone number. Charges typcially run $3.00 a day for this service and telephone charges run approx $3-$4 per minute depending on the time of day and whether it is an incoming or outcoming call. These charges will be billed to your credit card. If you have two cellphones to bring, it would be wise to bring both - one may not work but the other may... Don't be upset if you can't register for service during the day - easiest at night... Also best service is achieved on the St. Martin side of the island.

Currency
French is the official language but English is spoken as well. The Euro is the primary currency but dollars are accepted all over as well as most major credit cards. Inquire before buying. Best to use MasterCard/Visa to get Euros Conversion. Using Amex will typcially be in $'s. Best to ask before giving your credit card to avoid a misunderstanding.

Water
There are no rivers or steams in Saint Barth. There is a central desalinization plant in Public which transforms salt water to drinking water and rain water is collected in cisterns. There is no real rain season, therefore water is considered precious, use it sparingly. It is better to drink bottled water
